  MI is likely to face RCB in the season opener. After 13 players tested positive for covid 19, the Chennai Super Kings memebers are quarantined for an additional seven days. They are unlikely to play the season opener.  The BCCI are set to release a new schedule for the opening fixtures. According to some sources, Royal Challengers Bangalore are likely to face the Mumbai Indians in the season opener in Dubai. After hosting the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2017 and receiving the rights to host the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup taking place in 2021, the AIFF is set bid for another high profile tournament.  The AIFF has come up with a bid to host the AFC Asian Cup in 2027. The AIFF had earlier bid for the 2023 edition of the same tournament, but had lost the hosting rights to China, where the 2023 edition of the tournament is going to take place. India will be up against the likes of FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 hosts, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. It will be tough for India to secure the hosting rights for the tournament as Qatar are going to host the World Cup in 2022 and Saudi Arabia has hosted some high profile tournaments, the recent being the Copa Del Rey, which was moved out of Spain for the first time in 2019-20 season.   Dhoni and co. will be quarantined for one more week missing their opener against MI. The Indian Premier League which is set to begin on September 19, has experienced a major setback as thirteen members of the Chennai Super Kings test POSITIVE for covid 19.  Two of the members are players and rest are staff members. The players were tested thrice after reaching Dubai during the mandatory one week quarantine period. After the cases found in the CSK team, BCCI has decided to extend their quarantine period by one week. This means that they CSK will not be able to play the season opener. Accordingly, the BCCI has decided to reschedule the opening fixtures of the tournament.  A debate has already  flared up on social media on whether the tournament should be postponed or not.
